Meet The Plastics OT

Rebecca A. Smith, MSOT, OTR/L, CCST

My name is Rebecca Smith; I am The Plastics OT. I am an occupational therapist with a Master of Science from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am certified as a Cosmetic Surgery Therapist by the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy in New Jersey. Practicing since 2021, my patients praise my exceptional ability to simplify the intricate science of recovery and healing, honed during over six years as a museum educator at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

Occupational therapists possess a distinct skill set that makes them invaluable in post-plastic surgery recovery. Their expertise in precise positioning techniques ensures optimal comfort and support, which is crucial for facilitating healing and minimizing complications after surgery. With an in-depth understanding of anatomy, they can tailor their interventions to address individual needs, promoting faster recovery and better outcomes.

Moreover, I bring a wealth of additional training, with hundreds of hours dedicated to cosmetic surgery recovery, the lymphatic system, manual lymphatic drainage, and scar management. This specialized knowledge equips me to provide comprehensive support, helping you achieve your best results post-surgery by minimizing swelling, promoting tissue healing, and optimizing overall recovery. With my expertise, you can rest assured that you're in capable hands throughout your post-plastic surgery journey.

What the heck is OT?

Occupational therapists are akin to detectives, meticulously studying how individuals perform activities encompassing the whole body, from tying shoes to writing, cooking, or even playing sports. They analyze which muscles are involved, how the brain coordinates actions and remembers steps, and how surroundings can impact performance. Using this knowledge, they develop personalized plans to improve muscle strength, cognitive function, and environmental adaptability, like crafting a unique puzzle tailored to each person's needs.
